He isn't a natural actor - from what I understand, the word natural is just another way of saying "effortless". The discussion on Mammootty's "limitations" pops up primarily when he is compared to his contemporary, Mohanlal, usually by the latter's fans, and are, as far as I've identified, the following:ฤก. That being said, in the wider sphere, a lot of people seem to agree that Mammootty has certain limitations as an actor. A list of his best characters would be a lot wider, so I'm not including it here. His best films, in my opinion, are Anantaram, Thaniyavarthanam, Vidheyan, Amaram, Mathilukal, Arapatta Kettiya Gramathil, and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha. It's always exciting for me to watch a Mammootty film, especially the classics, because I can almost assure myself beforehand that whatever I'm about to see, no matter if it is good or bad, is going to be different from all the other Mammootty films I've seen. The sort of memorable characters he has perfected through the years quite effortlessly puts his distinctive range and versatility on display for all to see, I think. Mammootty could very well be my favourite Indian actor of all time.
